Local golf: CMGA plays three-best ball event

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a three-best-ball points game this week. In first place was the team of Steve Hollis, Dennis Pope, Jim Van Dyke and Chuck Keith. Second place went to the team of Paul Payne, Bob Pyne, Bob Allen and Bob Watson. Third place went to the team of Roy Bartlett, Denny Momper, Harry Barnett and Bill Adams.

Closest to the pin winners were Adams (No. 3), Grady Parish (No. 5), Ben Brooks (No. 12) and Bartlett (No. 17).

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a throw-out event (using the best front or back nine), low net, on Tuesday.

The first flight winner was Ann Hollobaugh. Tied for second was Martha Shell and Beulah Land. The second flight winner was Martha Nesbit, with Jackie Somerville finishing in second place.

The closest to the pin winner was Joanne Rabdau (No. 3 and No. 17).

WEDNESDAY DOGFIGHT GROUP: The Wednesday Dogfights at Chicopee Woods Golf Course played a new game of Stableford scoring with Scott Thompson racking up the most individual points at +9. James Roberts, Johnny Gilliam and Gayle Gibson all finished at +6, while Terry Clegg was at +4 points.

HICKERSON ACES NO. 8 AT CHICOPEE: On April 4, Tom Hickerson scored a hole-in-one on the No. 8 hole on the Hole on the School course at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Hickerson was playing blue tees from 179 yards and used a Mizuno 6-iron. The shot was witnessed by Wiley Hickerson and Cecil Buffington.

YAMAGUCHI HITS HOLE IN ONE: On April 10, Masa Yamaguchi scored a hole-in-one on the No. 4 Village hole at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Yamaguchi used a 6-iron Mizuno mp 15 club to hit the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball. The shot was witnessed by Akinori Nakashima and Shinpei Kawao.
