Local golf: CMGA holds three best score tournament

Doug Van, Rick Reed, Eddie Johnson and Roger Miller teamed up to win the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association’s three best score Stableford points game last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Joe Kolesar, Bob Respess, Don Sorrell and Wayne Nelson came in second, while Paul Payne, Stu Virgin, Jim Griffin and Johnny Little placed third.

Closest to the pin winners were Johnson (No. 3), Sorrell (No. 5), Virgin (No. 12) and Carlyle Cox (No. 17).

DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches on Wednesday and Friday last week at Chicopee Woods.

On Wednesday, Dwight Miller placed first, and Charley Kilby tied Denis Jordan for second place.

Don Shumake won on Friday, Bill Ingram was second, and Dennis Jones took third.

LUNA’S TUESDAY: Stan Davidson Jr., Nelson Wright, Randy Gordy and Johnny Nix won the Luna’s Tuesday golf group’s event last week at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Second place went to the team of Bud Black, Tom Sexton, Daryl Dunckel and Juan Luna. Joe Roberts, Frank Waggoner, Ken Chahoy and Doug Van came in third.

Closest to the pin winners were Black (No. 3) and Gordy (No. 5 and No. 17).

DOGFIGHT: Jerry Horton, Tom Frier Jr., Cleve Sexton and Lou Vega won last week’s Wednesday dogfight event at Chicopee Woods.

Tommy Calhoun, Bob Arendt, Pat Ruiz and Yoshi tied Luke James, Ron Melin, Henry Komoto and Dave Jetter for second place.

Individually, Vega was first, Calhoun was second, and Tom Bolton placed third.

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a best front or back nine event last Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

In the first flight, Ann Hollobaugh won low gross, and Sue Cronmiller won low net. Martha Shell won low gross in the second flight, and Lorie McEachern took low net. In the third flight, Kirsten Coleman took low gross, and Jackie Somerville won low net.

Closest to the pin winners were Riki Von Stroud (No. 3) and Ann White (No. 17).
