Local golf: Clegg wins at Chicopee Woods

Terry Clegg carded a 63 to win the individual competition during the Wednesday Dogfight at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Jim Arendt finished second with a 65, while Tom Bolton, Jeff Frasier, Glen Whitmire and Mark Black each had a 66 to finish in a tie for third.

The team of Jeff Frasier, Mike Tilson, Billy Williams and Glen Whitmire finished first with a score of 30-under par.

The foursome of Tommy Calhoun, Mark Black, Terry Clegg, Larry Miller finished one stroke back to finish in second place.

DPG: Three DPG matches were played last week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

On Tuesday, Dave Jetter took first place (+5), followed by Bob Kidd (+3) and Jerry Pearson (+2).

Steve Knowles (+6) won Wednesday, followed by Doug Padgett (+5), Dennis Jones (+3) and Billy Corbin (+2). Horace Smallwood (+4) and Norm Phillips (+4) tied for first Friday, followed by Jerry Shell (+3) and Corbin, Padgett and Jetter (-1).

JOHNSON ACES NO. 5: J. B. Johnson scored a hole-in-one on the Par 3, fifth hole at Chattahoochee Golf Course on Wednesday. Playing partners Doug Van, Butch Teston and Eddie Johnson witnessed the feat.

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men's Golf Association played a two best-ball, aggregated net-points game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

First place went to the team of Dick Bachman, Don Sorrell, Larry Cohan and Wayne Nelson. Second Place went to the team of Clay Bartlett, Ed Pledger, Guy Long and Jimmy Johnson.

There was a tie for third between the team of Doug Van, Eddie Johnson, Butch Teston and J. B. Johnson, and the foursome of Leroy Harper, Bud Clegg, Roger Futrell and Roger Miller. A.J. Kiker, Don Gage and Bo Boohaker finished fifth.

Closest to the pin winners were: Sorrell (No. 3), Johnson (No. 5-ace), Jere Cochran (No. 12) and Bachman (No. 17).
