The Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club won its ninth national title at the U.S. Canoe & Kayak National Championships on Aug. 28 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Senior and junior LCKC participants finished with the most points in their classification, in this a qualifier for the PanAmerican Championships.

Rebecca Westmoreland, 16, finished with a combined eight gold medals for the LCKC, participating in junior and senior events in the K-1 (one-person kayak), K-2 and K-4. Morgan Smith, 17, won the gold in the junior women’s 1,000.

In the K-1 junior men’s 500, Luke Potts took the gold.

In the junior men’s K-2 1,000, gold went to Stanton Collins and Tanner Easterday, and silver was won by Potts and Ethan Jackson. Zach Robertson and Hezekiah Blackburn won the bronze.

In the K-2 men’s senior 200, Tim Hornsby and Jared McArthur won gold, and Morgan House and Chris Miller placed second for the silver.

In the C-2 500 junior event, James Watson and Ben Hefner placed first.
