Walter Hope defended his title as senior champion in the championship flight at Chicopee Woods golf course with a 1-over (145) during the two-day event Sunday in Oakwood.

In a three-hole and sudden-death playoff, Roger Stapp won the 60-and-over division over Billy Shrader. With his win, Roger Stapp and Chad Stapp (1997 and 1999) become the first father-and-son pair to win titles at Chicopee Woods.

In the championship flight, Scott Holcomb finished second, Roger Stapp placed third and Tommy Evans was fourth. First flight placers were Shrader in first, Don Shrum in second and Dan Arthurs in third.

In the second flight, Jerry Shell was the overall winner, Vince Jonte finished second and Geoff Archibald placed third.

After Saturday’s first 18 holes, Hope held a two-stroke lead over Roger Stapp and three strokes over Billy Shrader. Defending champion in the 60-and-over class Joe Ingram shot a first-round 78, one shot in front of Shell.
