The Piedmont College baseball team opens play in the NCAA Divison III National tournament against fourth-seeded Salisbury at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Milligan, Tenn.

The No. 25 Lions are part of a six-team regional and a third seed behind Christopher Newport University and Shenandoah.

Other action on Day 1 at Milligan will include top-seeded Christopher Newport University taking on No. 6 seed Webster University, while No. 2 seed Shenandoah University will battle No. 5 seed Wabash College.

The Lions earned the Pool B berth into the tournament by virtue of their 30-13 season, including a 29-11 record in the South region.

After taking the Great South Athletic Conference regular season title, Piedmont also took home the GSAC tournament crown with three straight victories, including a pair of thrilling come-from-behind wins to cap a six-game winning streak to end the season.
