The University of North Georgia’s Bill Leroy has been name Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the week. Leroy hit .667 in four games last week with a .733 slugging percentage. He had a double and drove in three runs.
In a three-game sweep of Young Harris, he hit .636, driving in two runs in the opener on Friday. He drove in another run with a double and scored eight runs on the week. The freshman is hitting .435 on the season.
North Georgia’s Dylan Peppers was named league Pitcher of the Week. Peppers pitched eight shutout innings as North Georgia defeated Young Harris, 10-0, to finish off a three-game series sweep Sunday. Peppers struck out a career-high 11 while allowing three hits and two walks.
Peppers is eighth in the Peach Belt with a 3.40 ERA and 11th in opponent batting average.
On Wednesday, No. 3 North Georgia hosts Anderson University at 6 p.m. in Dahlonega.
