The North Georgia College & State University women's basketball team defeated Augusta State 57-45 on Saturday in the Christenberry Fieldhouse.
It was the fifth straight win over Augusta State for the Lady Saints (7-4, 2-1 Peach Belt Conference)
Gainesville grad Jaymee Carnes led the way for North Georgia, notching her nation-best 10th double-double of the year. She scored 21 points, grabbed 11 boards and blocked six shots.
The Lady Saints return to action at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. They will host Peach Belt foe UNC Pembroke in their second home conference game of the season.
TRUETT MCCONNELL 78, FAULKNER 75 (Friday): Behind a strong second half, Truett McConnell escaped in a close battle with Faulkner University on Friday night in Cleveland.
The Bears trailed at the half, 37-31. Behind 15 points from Bernard Nugent, however, Truett McConnell (8-8) was able to erase the deficit and take control in the second half. Nugent added six assists and six steals in the game.
Anthony Dorsey (20 points) and Roderick Bombard (19 points) were the leading scorers for the Bears, who will play next on Tuesday against Emmanuel College.
