The Young Harris women’s basketball team scored 32 points in the paint and added 16 fastbreak points in a 71-33 win over Hiawassee College on Wednesday night in Madisonville, Tenn., to earn its fourth straight win.
Nikki Winn led Young Harris (5-8) with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, while handing out five assists. LaDondra Johnson scored 12 points and Breanna Gleeson finished with 10 points. Missy Conrad led the team on the boards with 14 rebounds.
The Lady Mountain Lions visit King College at 4 p.m. Saturday.
NORTH GEORGIA WOMEN 74, GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN 60: Behind a game-high 22 points from Janyce Ealey, the North Georgia women’s basketball team rallied from a 12-point first-half deficit to take down Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday evening in Peach Belt Conference action in Americus.
Lindsey Moss added 14 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double in 34 minutes of action. Jessica Trice finished in double figures, tallying 10 points on a 4-for-7 performance from the free throw line, while knocking down two three-pointers and adding two steals.
GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN MEN 69, NORTH GEORGIA 60: The Saints came close, but couldn't snap their losing skid, falling for the fifth straight game on Wednesday in Americus.
The No. 21 Hurricanes (12-3, 5-1 Peach Belt) led only by two with 1:47 left, but North Georgia (3-11, 0-5) couldn't capitalize, missing four straight field goals and a pair of free throws down the stretch.
Carl Taylor's 21 points led the Saints, while Clarence Tillman and Elijah Smith added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
North Georgia returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Clayton State.
