College Scoreboard: North Georgia's Frierson named PBC Softball Freshman of the Week

The University of North Georgia’s Alishia Frierson has been named the Peach Belt Conference Softball Freshman of the Week. Frierson hit .462 in four games for the Nighthawks last week with a home run and five RBIs.

Frierson was 3 for 4 with two doubles and two driven in against Lincoln Memorial. In Game 2 against Armstrong State, she was 2 for 3 with her first collegiate home run and two RBIs in the 7-2 win. Frierson currently ranks third in the league with nine doubles and eighth in the league in total hits.

Georgia Tech catcher Joey Bart, a Buford High graduate, was named ACC and National Player of the Week after hitting five homers in four games last week.

Bart had a home run in each game, along with his first multi-home run game of his career against Belmont. For the season, Bart is hitting .447 with 7 homers and 19 RBIs.

Georgia Tech visits Kennesaw State at 5 p.m. today.
