University of North Georgia freshmen pitchers Kylee Smith and Amber Johns put together complete-game shutouts in 2-0 and 3-0 wins against Augusta University on Sunday in Augusta.
In Game 1, In the opener, Smith allowed four hits and one walk, while striking out six batters for the Nighthawks (29-9, 9-4 Peach Belt Conference).
Alishia Frierson had an RBI double for North Georgia, while Stephanie Hartness scored twice.
In Game 2, Johns allowed five hits and a walk with three strikeouts from the circle for the Nighthawks. Kaylyn Anthony and Lexi Duncan had run-scoring doubles for North Georgia as it wrapped up an 11-game road trip with an 8-3 mark.
On Saturday, North Georgia hosts USC-Aiken at 1 p.m. in Dahlonega.
Baseball
Michael Bell had a two-run single in the first inning and a run-scoring double in the eighth inning for top-ranked North Georgia in a 6-4 loss to UNC-Pembroke on Sunday in Pembroke, N.C.
Dylan Peppers had a shutout going through 6 2/3 innings for the Nighthawks (22-6, 9-3 Peach Belt), but the Braves scored five times before the final out of the inning was recorded.
On Wednesday, North Georgia hosts Southern Wesleyan at 1 p.m. in Dahlonega.
