Brenau freshman pitcher Kathleen Daniel had a historic debut in her team’s season opener last Saturday, throwing 20 strikeouts in a 2-1 win against Piedmont.
Daniel now holds the record for the most strikeouts by any freshman in NAIA history, and she’s second all-time behind Davenport (MI) University’s Emily Maves’ 21 strikeouts.
The Golden Tigers picked up the sweep against Piedmont by winning the second game 3-1. Brenau’s Shelton Kendrix hit a home run, while teammate Autumn Conaway added two hits between both games.
Brenau (2-0) travels for a doubleheader at Truett-McConnell College at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Cleveland.
