College Roundup: Jefferson High graduate Reese Bowles breaks Piedmont College record

Sophomore Reese Bowles, a Jefferson High graduate, broke the Piedmont women’s cross country all-time record Saturday at the Rhodes College Invitational.

Bowles ran a 24:48.20, breaking the previous record of 24:51.20 set by Jazmina Szczensna in 2011. Bowles finished in 55th place at the meet, while the Lady Lions finished in 15th overall out of 22 teams.

Bowles now owns the Piedmont school record for the overall best 6K time, while also holding the sophomore record.

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH GEORGIA WOMEN FINISH FOURTH: The UNG women’s cross country team posted a fourth-place finish at the Bulldog Stampede at Wingate University.

Wingate won the 20-team event with 74 points, finishing 20 points ahead of runner-up Anderson. North Georgia’s Brittany Truitt earned a top-10 finish with a time of 23:30.
