The Brenau women’s golf team turned out its best score this season to win the Golden Tigers Invitational on March 20-21 at the Chattahooche Golf Club.

The Golden Tigers shot a 326 on both days of the event for a team score of 652, beating second-place Southeastern University (Fla.) by seven strokes. Freed-Hardeman University finished third with a score of 669, followed by the University of Mobile (687), Truett-McConnell University (706), Reinhardt University (707) and Bryan College (714).

“This is a great win for our program,” Brenau coach Damon Stancil said in a news release. “The ladies did a great job of grinding out two very good totals on Monday and Tuesday, which enabled us to outpace the other teams. ... We took advantage of playing our home course, which isn’t always easy, and closed out the biggest team win in program history.”

The Golden Tigers’ Morgan Wood, a Lumpkin County High graduate, and Sara Jane Bowers both shot 159 overall to tie for fourth. Ashley Omidi notched a score of 162 for Brenau, while teammates Amber Clayton and Megan Reddick each finished at 172.

LaKese Brown (176) and Olivia Davis (184) also competed individually for the Golden Tigers.

Brenau will return to action at the Spring Phoenix Invitational on April 10-11 at Windtree Golf Course in Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
