For her performance last week, Ellen Black was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Softball Player of the week, as well as the Brenau University Golden Tiger of the Week, announced Wednesday.

Black, a junior from Toccoa, hit .692 on the week with three home runs and 10 RBIs. She also threw a one-hit shutout against Southern Wesleyan to get her sixth win of the season.

Black currently ranks first in the SSAC, and second in the nation, with 1.68 RBIs per game.

BRENAU SOFTBALL SWEEPS TRUETT-MCCONNELL (TUESDAY): The fifth-ranked Lady Golden Tigers (28-2, 12-0 SSAC) defeated Truett-McConnell College, 8-0, 8-0. Brenau next plays a doubleheader with Shorter University, beginning at 4 p.m. Friday.
