The Brenau University softball team is off to the best start in team history after defeating LaGrange 5-1 and 3-2 in 10 innings Saturday at LaGrange.
Marisa Litster led the Golden Tigers (14-1), picking up wins in both games. She worked a complete game in the opener, giving up four hits, one earned run and striking out seven. Litster pitched the last four innings in the second game in relief of Missy Herren, who gave up two hits, no earned runs and struck out eight in six innings of work.
Litster was 4-for-7 with four RBIs on the day, while Maggie Renfro went a combined 4-for-8, including 3-for-4 in game 1. Brooke Borders delivered the key hit in the second game with a two-out, two-run double.
