Brenau splits pair with Lee

The Brenau softball team, currently ranked 12th in NAIA, split a doubleheader with 17th-ranked Lee University on Wednesday.

In the first game, a 5-2 Brenau loss, Cassie Lassiter was the losing pitcher despite striking out eight batters. Brooke Borders led the Lady Golden Tigers at the plate with two hits and one RBI. Brenau (34-7, 21-5) won the second game 7-2 thanks to a complete-game, three strikeout performance by Marissa Lister. In the third inning, Jessie Groves hit a two-run home run and Ellen Black hit a solo home run. Morgan Smith and Lassiter drove in two runs a piece in the win.

Brenau, which is No. 1 in its conference standings, returns to action at 5 tonight when it plays host to No. 18 Shorter College at Lanier Point Park.
