Brenau University (9-5, 2-3) lost its second Southern States Athletic Conference game in a row with a tough defeat at the hands of Berry (12-3, 5-0) 62-58 Saturday afternoon in Gainesville.
The visitors from Rome led the entire game, but Brenau kept it close throughout.
The Tigers actually had more field goals in the game (23-18), but were outshot from the free throw line.
Berry connected on 19 of 32 opportunities, while Brenau hit 10 of 15.
Both teams were sloppy with the ball, combining for 53 turnovers in the game.
Brenau was led by sophomore post player Sarah Ledford with 14 points, with Vicky Wilson and Tori Collins adding 12 each. Berry was led by Holly Compton with 16 points.
Berry opened up at 26-20 lead by halftime. Brenau kept coming in the second half, but just couldn’t take the lead.
The Tigers will return to the court Thursday at Reinhardt.
Earlier this week, the Tigers fell to Shorter College 60-51 in an SSAC matchup Thursday night in Gainesvillle.
The Tigers fought their way back to a 32-21 halftime deficit, but poor shooting severely hurt Brenau, as the Tigers connected on just 31 percent of their field goal attempts for the game.
Paige Cooper led Brenau with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Vicky Wilson finished with 15 points and four steals. Tasha Anderson added six steals in the losing effort.
