FORT MILL, S.C. — After losing seven straight games the Gwinnett Braves were finally able to pull out a victory as they defeated the Charlotte Knights 5-1 at Knights Stadium.
Gwinnett got off to a good start when starting pitcher Lucas Harrell gave up a bases loaded double in the first inning to the Braves’ Brent Clevlen.
Joe Thurston followed with a two-run homer to right, his second homerun of the season, as the Braves scored all of their runs in the top of the first. Clevlen finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Thurston and Blanco each went 2-for-4.
James Parr picked up his first win of the season in three tries, striking out five and yielding five hits in five innings.
