The Atlanta Braves’ game against the New York Yankees on Tuesday, August 24 at Truist Park has been designated as Phil Niekro Night.

Niekro, a Hall of Fame pitcher, known for his knuckleball, spent 19 of his 24 big league seasons with the Braves.

To honor Niekro, a beloved resident of Flowery Branch for many years who died on Dec. 26, 2020, the organization will hold a 50/50 raffle and in-game charity auction. Proceeds and all donations made that day at www.Braves.com/give will benefit Gainesville’s Edmondson Telford Child Advocacy Center.

Niekro was a staunch supporter of the organization that strives to combat child abuse and provide a safe environment for victims of child abuse.

A special ‘Knucksie’ ticket package is available at www.braves.com/niekro and includes a shirt illustrating the pitch that made Niekro famous.

Four dollars from each ticket package will benefit the Edmondson Telford Child Advocacy Center.

There will also be a pregame check presentation to the Edmondson Telford Advocacy Center on behalf of the Atlanta Braves Foundation.
