ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks, who made the playoffs for the first time in nine years last season, will try to build on that success when they open their new season at Orlando on Oct. 29.

The Hawks, who finished 37-45 to make the playoffs and then pushed the eventual NBA champion Boston Celtics to a seven-game series, will play their first home game on Saturday, Nov. 1, against Philadelphia.

The Celtics will visit Atlanta on Dec. 17 and March 27. The Los Angeles Lakers, who lost to the Celtics in the finals, will play in Atlanta on March 29.

Other highlights include visits by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Nov. 13 and March 1 and the annual Martin Luther King Jr. holiday afternoon game on Jan. 19, against Toronto.
