ATLANTA The Atlanta Hawks have signed assistant coaches Larry Drew and Bob Bender to new contracts on Mike Woodson’s staff.

General manager Rick Sund also named NBA veterans David Pendergraft as assistant general manager and director of player personnel, and Steve Rosenberry as director of pro personnel and college scouting.

Drew and Bender, both four-year veterans with the team, will be back next season as the Hawks try to improve on their 2007-2008 finish, which ended with their first trip to the playoffs in nine seasons. Atlanta took the eventual NBA champion Boston Celtics to seven games in the first round.

Sund replaced former general manager Billy Knight, who resigned in May.

On Friday, Sund announced that Woodson had signed a two-year extension.

Pendergraft and Rosenberry served on the staff of the Seattle SuperSonics during Sund’s tenure there as general manager.
