Falcons sign second round pick Alford

FLOWERY BRANCH – The Atlanta Falcons announced today that they have signed cornerback Robert Alford. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Alford, 5-foot-10, 186 pounds, was selected by the Falcons in the second round (60th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. He started 31 of 32 career games at Southeastern Louisiana, recording 137 tackles (110 solo) with 20 passes defensed, 10 interceptions, six tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. As a team captain in 2012, Alford was named the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision National Defensive Player of the Year by the College Sports Journal.
