Local golf: Costello, Gage, Long and Brooks win at Chattahoochee

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best ball, aggregated net points game last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Jack Costello, Don Gage, Dave Long and Ben Brooks finished in first place.

The team of Bill Sutton, Karl Goellner and Johnny Little tied with Dick Bachman, Bob Henderson, Nick Grillo and Bob Layne for second place. Joe Kolesar, Jim Carroll, Bud Clegg and Bo Boohaker came in fourth.

Closest to the pin winners were Henderson (No. 3), Doug Van (No. 5), Bachman (No. 12) and Long (No. 17).

NEGA LADIES: The Northeast Georgia Ladies Golf Association played a Texas scramble match last Tuesday. The team of Martha Shell, Mona White, Nancy Negley and Linda Nix finished in first place. Sue Cronmiller, Susan Prather, Riki VonStroud and Kristen Coleman came in second.

Closest to the pin winners were Shell (No. 3) and Cronmiller (No. 17).

LUNA’S TUESDAY: The Luna’s Tuesday Golf Group played at Chicopee Woods Golf Course last week. First place went to the team of Stan Davidson, Jr., Royce Deaton, Doug Van and Cleve Brown. Joe Roberts, Tom Sexton, Tommy Lowery and Ken Chahoy finished in second place. Blake Nix, Johnny Nix, Larry Miller and Jerry Johns came in third.

Closest to the pin winners were Van (School No. 4), Deaton (School No. 8 and Village No. 4) and Johns (Village No. 7).

DOGFIGHT: Jim Arendt, George McMath, John Cown and Bob Arendt finished in first place at the Wednesday Dogfight at Chicopee Woods Golf Course last week at 23-under par. Jeff Frasier, Gail Gibson and Lou Vega came in second at 22-under par, and Tom Bolton, Mark Black, Terry McFarland and Darrel Pinner were third at 16-under par.

Walter Hope and Dan Arthurs tied for first place individually. Vega came in third, and Bob Arendt and Black tied for fourth. McMath, Frasier and Greg Lee tied for sixth.
