Union County blanks Social Circle, 31-0

The Union County defense held Social Circle to just 44 yards of total offense in a 31-0 win on Friday in Blairsville.

Chase Barnett led the Panthers (6-3, 3-3 Region 8-AA) defense with 12 tackles and a fumble recovery. Luther Jones had a sack, seven total tackles including two for a loss, and a caused fumble. Jacob Vick had an interception and a pair of tackles.

T Bentley and Johnathan Hughes fueled the Panthers offense, combining for all four of the touchdowns in the game. Bentley had a 20-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 30-yard run. He finished the game with 108 yards and a score on 13 carries and was 13-of-21 for 120 yards passing. Hughes scored on 5-yard and 2-yard runs and totaled 57 yards on 12 carries.

Clay Burnett was the team’s leading rusher with 48 yards on six carries. Josh Kim paced the receiving corps with 43 yards on three catches.

Union County travels to Jefferson in the regular-season finale next Friday in Jefferson.
