The West Hall football team lost in Toccoa to Stephens County 45-17 on Friday night.

"Speed, speed, speed," Spartan coach Mike Newton said. "They just had so much more speed than we did."

The speed of Stephens County was on display as it returned a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns.

For West Hall, Shunquez Stephens had a 3-yard touchdown run to give the Spartans their only offensive touchdown of the night. Ishmail Miranda had the only other offensive score for West Hall, hitting a 32-yard field goal.

Senior William Stroup had the other touchdown for West Hall, picking up a Stephens County fumble and rumbling 15 yards into the end zone.

"I thought we played well," Newton said. "Our pass protection was good and our defense did well to box in some of their speed.

"We put Chandler Newton in some at quarterback and moved Shunquez to wideout and they both played well there. Ethan Stewart also played really well for us."

West Hall (2-2, 0-0 Region 8B-AAA) has a bye week upcoming and will return to action against Walnut Grove at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 in Oakwood.
