East Hall sophomore quarterback Austin Parker threw for 200 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-14 Region 7-AAA win over Lumpkin County Friday night in Dahlonega.

East Hall senior running back Jiel Vargas had 170 total yards (120 rushing, 50 receiving) and two touchdowns. Junior receiver Markese Jackson caught three touchdowns and senior receiver Jacquen Hopkins caught a touchdown.

The Vikings’ defensive line was a major key to the victory as it was able to limit the production of Lumpkin senior running back Zach Matthews.

“Our defense rose to the challenge,” East Hall coach Bryan Gray said. “We were going against one of the top running backs in the state, and we were able to shut him down.”

East Hall (1-5, 1-0) hosts Dawson County 7:30 p.m. next Friday. Lumpkin County (2-3, 0-1) visits Franklin County 7:30 p.m. next Friday.
