North Hall rallies past Franklin County, 20-14
Cross' late TD lifts Trojans, keeps region playoff hopes alive

North Hall rallied to defeat Franklin County 20-14 on Friday night in Carnesville.

Trailing 14-12 with less than two minutes to go, North Hall's Imani Cross took a handoff on fourth-and-goal and powered into the end zone to give North Hall a 20-14 lead.

After a return to near midfield by Franklin County, Darrius Curry intercepted a pass on the first play from scrimmage to seal a much needed subregion win for the Trojans at Ed Bryant Stadium in Carnesville.

Trevor Holbrooks began the scoring for North Hall with a 7-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

The Trojans s+econd touchdown would come on the legs of Mack VanGorder, who plunged 2 yards for a score in the second quarter.

VanGorder led the Trojans rushing attack, amassing 93 yards on 18 carries.

In the air, Kandler Cocker finished the game 7-for-18 for 125 yards for North Hall (4-4, 2-2 Region 8A-AAA).

On defense, Cross finished the game with 14 total tackles (seven solo), Curry had seven (five solo) and both Wade Phillies and VanGorder added six (each with five solo).

The Trojans accumulated 375 yards total on the night (270 rushing, 125 passing). With the win, North Hall moves into a tie with Lumpkin County for third place in the subregion.

The Trojans will visit Stephens County at 7:30 p.m. Friday, if North Hall wins and Lumpkin County loses, the Trojans would find themselves in second place going into the region play-in game on Nov. 5.
