Jackson County's late comeback attempt fell shy in a 41-24 loss to Hart County on Friday night at Panther Stadium in Jefferson.
Jackson County had the ball down 28-24 with 3:11 remaining in the game but threw an interception the Bulldogs returned for a score to end the drive and the Panthers' chances.
Jackson County took a 17-7 lead with 3:48 left in the second quarter on a 76-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Jase Latty to receiver Chase Wester.
Jackson County running back Malik Tuck scored on a 32-yard touchdown run to put the Panthers up 24-21 with 5:31 left in the third quarter, but Hart County was able to respond in the fourth quarter.
Jackson County (3-5, 0-4 8-AAA) hosts East Jackson 7:30 p.m. next Friday.
