Jefferson coach Ben Hall doesn’t know exactly when the Dragons caught the fire that led them to their Class AA state championship last year, but he has a feeling it happened somewhere around their game against North Hall. Still reeling from a 22-7 loss to arch-rival Commerce two weeks prior to their visit to The Brickyard, Jefferson overcame a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter to stun the Trojans 27-21 and get back on its feet just in time for region play. The Dragons didn’t lose again.
