After reading Bill Shipp’s article concerning Republicans who crossed over and voted for Obama in the Democratic primary, I am depressed.
He expressed the thought that white males would prefer to be led by a white man who seems obsessed by war, or a black man more interested in oratory and celebrity appearances than solutions to national problems, instead of by a middle-aged, experienced woman who seems aware of our problems, seems to be seeking solutions and appears determined to succeed.
We all stand to lose a lot by this attitude: improved health care, equal pay for equal work, better foreign relations and student loans as well as a marvelous example for our daughters and granddaughters.

Ronda Rich’s mother was star of the show
On a recent Saturday, we had the privilege of meeting Ronda Rich’s 88-year-old mother, who was a celebrity model at the White County Meth Task Force fashion show. Ronda was the emcee for the show and shared some of her stories about her mother with us.
We laughed with her mother about some of their favorite times together. We talked with her after the show and realized she was a special person with a quick, dry wit who didn’t let anything get by her. She told us how much fun she had, and she "just might have to keep those cute clothes" she modeled.
That Sunday, we were shocked and saddened to learn of her sudden death. I am sure we speak for all the 400 women who were present at the fashion show in offering our condolences to Ronda and her sister, Louise Nix. We thank them for sharing their personal life with us; their mother was truly the star of the show and we will always remember that day with her.
