I went to vote Tuesday. It was a race against time, the sun was low in the sky. I had to dodge two squirrels and a stray dog on my way.
The road had been paved recently with one side lower than the other, I had to be aware of that hazard. When I arrived at my polling place there were no parking places; the lot was full! What a wonderful turnout, I thought to myself. I wondered how long I would have to wait in line.
When I entered the voting room, I was greeted by the smiling faces of the volunteer poll workers. These faces were exceptionally pretty. I filled out my identification sheet and handed it to them along with my drivers license.
As I looked around the room I noticed the voting machines were idle. Where was everyone? The parking lot suggested a crowd of voters. After I voted I was informed that I was voter number 19! Nineteen! What a shame!
At least I can be proud that I came to the aid of a need for Hall County. Those of you who didn't vote, you have no right to complain. Next time we need everyone, who will, to get out and vote. Your vote will make a difference.
