This letter is in response to a letter Thursday by Jane Browder. The context of the article was of her demonization of labor unions. It is very obvious Ms. Browder knows absolutely nothing about the inner workings of labor unions or the obvious reasons for their existence.

I am a proud 47-year member of a labor union having worked 30-plus years in an "Obama Motors" assembly plant as Ms. Browder so lovingly referred to it, seeking to make a livable wage and fair treatment in the workplace. Therefore I take great offense to being referred to as a union thug.

I'm wondering if Ms. Browder gets her information from talk radio? Please ask someone that knows for the real facts.

In reference to her statement that unions are not needed in government, I would ask of her or anyone else given the choice with all the corruption seemingly going on in all of the political world: Would we be more comfortable having well-qualified employees in our government making a reasonable income or have that taxpayer money going into the pockets of crooked politicians, special interests or to foreign countries?
