Who do you think is concerned with our security, Democrats or Republicans?

The Democrats' every move in Congress shows their feelings for our security. The Senate passed the FISA bill to allow our intelligence agencies to monitor overseas communications to the United States. The Democratic House voted not to renew the act. Sen. Clinton didn't show up to vote. Sen. Obama voted against it; Sen. McCain voted for it.

The Democratic House seems to have nothing better to do than investigate the baseball steroids scandal (no wonder their ratings are so low). Wasting our money again.

We have terrorism, FISA, the economy and immigration that are vital issues to consider. They passed the bill to give all of us a check to help the economy, all political posturing, and whose money is it? It's ours. All they seemed to do is waste our money.

Firefighters perform heroic tasks brilliantly
Thank you and hats off to the city and county firefighters who responded to the two recent unoccupied home fires on Riverside Drive.

It was cold and windy during both fires; that did not help anything. The hoses had to be laid at least 50 feet to reach the homes. Later, while the final walk-through inspection of the home took place, all the hoses had to be laid out and re-rolled. That was a major job after two or more hours of hard work.

It truly gave me a deeper appreciation of the tiring and efficient way they work. They are dedicated and brave for this often lifesaving work they have chosen to do. And remember they are "on call" at all times.
