I don’t know which disturbs me more, the request from PETA member Sarah Segal for a memorial for chickens killed in a wreck recently in Gainesville, or the fact that The Times gave top billing to the subject in the Feb. 7 issue. I am an animal lover, and am all for fair treatment of any animal, but this goes beyond reason. It is a shame that monies and efforts are not put to better use — the homeless, the hungry, human trafficking, to name a few.
