I am writing in response to the article, “Bullying incidents test school policy in Hall County, Gainesville” of March 7. It saddened me to read such negative words about Beth Hudgins.

I do not know David Dover or his children and cannot say whether the accusations that he lodged against Ms. Hudgins or Myers Elementary are true or not. I can only tell you what I know to be true. What do I know to be true? Ms. Hudgins is one of the kindest, most loving, highly professional educators I have met. I know this because I, too, am a parent at Myers Elementary.

Is Myers perfect? Are all students always well-behaved? No and no. I could pose that question of any other school and the answer would still be no. I know firsthand that Ms. Hudgins does take the safety, well-being, happiness and education of her students very seriously.

Earlier in the school year, my daughter experienced a negative incident that involved another student. Ms. Hudgins handled the situation very promptly and professionally and made my child feel safe and valued. Both she and the teacher were sincerely apologetic and my child has not had further issues. I am unsure how anyone who has met Ms. Hudgins and seen her interact with students, teachers, and parents could question her love for and loyalty to Myers Elementary School. I can say, without hesitation, that my child is in competent and loving hands each morning that she goes to school. Ms. Hudgins is a rare gem.
