Letter: Truth is truth, even if author had a point about Christmas celebrations
keyboard

A letter Friday expressed concern with Christmas. I could not agree more. It is sad that we wrap it up in gift-giving and extravagance. However, the writer makes clear he is a literalist Christian. I don’t know exactly how we evolved, but it is clear (unless God is playing a big joke on us) that the Earth is 5 billion years old and prehuman species inhabited the Earth for millions of years. We came out of Africa 150,000 to 200,000 years ago and spread over the Earth. This is just truth.

Many believe God could have developed what we are any way He wanted to. I agree. Even the early Jews did not believe the creation story literally. As Andrew Breitbart said, “The truth isn’t mean, just truth.”
