Letter: Trump’s call to Putin was a wise way to avoid war

President Donald Trump’s critics are having a field day criticizing him for his congratulatory phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin for winning the election.

I didn’t vote for Trump but he is still my president. I would rather have him try to get along with Putin as opposed to starting a war with Russia.

I respect Sen. John McCain for being a war hero but he is dead wrong in his harsh criticism of Trump for making that phone call. If it was left up to McCain we would be at war with Russia tomorrow.

We need to find some common ground with Russia and scale back on the nuclear arms race.  Islamic terrorism, North Korea and Iran are the real threats to world peace, not Russia.
