Letter: Hall officials should take victims’ rights more seriously

I planned on going to the Victims Rights Ceremony.

After being hit head on by an underage drunken driver in 2015, my rights were never protected  while the case was settled with little regard to how it would affect my life. I have lost everything, including my health, job, car, home and sense of independence.

And now the Victims Rights Ceremony is canceled. This really shows me how serious Hall County is about keeping the community safe and reducing crime. I also have family who are victims of domestic violence as well, and it is not fair that victims are left to feel hopeless and not protected.
