Letter: Trump must be removed from office

Surely no one is surprised at the latest Trump fiasco, that is, the Ukrainian affair. In his earlier life, as a self-described great businessman, Trump operated pretty much as a conman: declaring bankruptcy numerous times, stiffing contractors, creating a bogus university, assaulting women and the like. He absolutely considered himself to be above the law.

In his run for the presidency, Trump colluded with the Russians and then fiercely blocked every attempt to hold him accountable, although many of his associates are now in jail. Despite his claims, the Mueller Report does not exonerate him. Did Trump learn from that? No.

Trump is right back at his reckless and lawless behavior. Never has any president in our history had the temerity to twist the arm of a foreign head of state to find dirt on a political rival. Again, a cover up is underway with the predictable lashing out at those who are trying to hold him accountable.

The Trump presidency has been a disaster from day one. Never has a president been so unsuited for office, in terms of temperament and capability. He absolutely has been unable to pivot from being a conman to being the leader of the free world. In office he has been inept, reckless, dishonest, petty, distracted, unstable, authoritarian, self-serving and vindictive, to say the least. In short, Trump has disgraced the office of the president in the eyes of the world.

Being that Trump is unfit for the presidency and has committed high crimes, he must be removed from the presidency for the good of the country. Hopefully, the American public will not make such an egregious mistake in the future. And it must be said that it is unconscionable that most Republicans continue to support a president who is a very real threat to the well-being of the United States. This is truly a sad chapter in our country’s history.
