The historic Engine 209, pictured in December 2018, was moved from a small park just off Jesse Jewell Parkway in Gainesville to a new location at the corner of Grove and Davis streets in August 2021.

I would like to thank the “powers that be” that got rid of that ugly old Gainesville-Midland steam engine that sat next to Jesse Jewell Parkway. Now there sits a beautiful gray steel barn of a building on that site. I’m sure it will bring a lot of tax money to the city that the historic train didn’t.
