Letter: Connector road for North Hall has been promised for years with no result
A North Hall Parkway could connect Thompson Bridge Road, shown here on April 13, 2018, to Ga. 365. A citizens group wants the idea studied sooner rather than later. - photo by David Barnes

Your article Monday on the North Hall Parkway caught my attention. It is interesting that they still talk of a “Sardis Road Connector.” We live on Ledan Road and deal daily with heavy traffic, speeders, wrecks and trucks with 10 or more wheels that are not supposed to be on this road.

We went to a Department of Transportation meeting at Chestatee High School in 2007 about the new Sardis Connector that would be built soon. We were excited because it was going to take traffic away from our road. We were told that if we passed the special purpose local option sales tax vote, the connector would be built.

We have passed SPLOST three times since then and still no connector. We are still waiting! Many people of Gainesville have always expressed a need for a perimeter but others used the lake as an excuse for not building one. This connector is not affected by the lake. Thanks for your reporting and maybe someday it will help our road.
