Guest column: Women are poised to make a bigger impact in manufacturing

According to a report by Deloitte, the National Association of Manufacturers, Manufacturing Institute and the APICS Supply Chain Council, there are currently more than 12 million manufacturing workers in the United States, accounting for 8.6 percent of the workforce. In the next decade, around 3.5 million manufacturing jobs will need to be filled. However, the skills gap is expected to result in 2 million unfilled positions.
