Letter: Veterans get little help after their sacrifices in other countries wars

I am so disgusted with Veterans Affairs. It does not assist veterans who wasted their lives for no reason. America seems to be at war all the time with no purpose. If two foreign countries are fighting each other, that’s their problem, but we make it ours. That’s why our country is not what it once was. We are playing referee to those countries, so why must we interrupt their little wars? We are playing hero at great expense.

I won’t be celebrating Veterans Day. Lives have been sacrificed for little disputes and yet we are expected to stand proud. I don’t think so.

My dad served in World War II. When he was honorably discharged, he was told by the VA that they owed him nothing. Two of my cousins were murdered in Vietnam and their wives received no help from the VA. So what exactly is the VA good for? Coffee breaks and vacations, I suppose.

I’m sure this seems cold to some of you who are into Veterans Day, and I’m sorry for that. Maybe you just don’t know. Why can’t we focus on our country, America?
