We read the Saturday article regarding the Operation Southern Shield prevention and enforcement initiative in the Southeast that will focus on speed limit enforcement for the next week.

Based on what we see on the roads today, we would also like to see an initiative focused on distracted driving, especially texting. We fear this may be causing more accidents than even speeding. This year to date, we have 780 road deaths in Georgia. This needs to slow down dramatically and quickly for everyone’s benefit.
