Letter: Price understands health care laws problems better than anyone in DC

Tom Crawford misleads on health care. When Obamacare was passed with the famous quote by Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi that “we need to pass it to find out what is in it,” few if any in Congress actually took the time and effort to review it. Certainly no Democrats, certainly not the president and very few Republicans. However, one person who did was Rep. Tom Price, a very respected and intelligent doctor who also happens to be a congressman.

Crawford’s column of Dec. 7 was very negative about Rep. Price, whose medical knowledge and experience apparently does not agree with the liberal agenda and Crawford’s lack of adequate information. You will note in the article Crawford is only “guessing and theorizing” about what changes may be made in Obamacare.

It is now apparent to everyone that although there are some very positive things in this 2,700-page legislation, there are major issues involving coverage for older citizens, greatly increasing cost for folks ages 30 to 65, a disaster for people under 30, and a wide range of people and groups granted “exceptions” by Congress since they wanted to protect themselves and their major financial contributors from having to accept Obamacare.

Also, Crawford admits Price took the time and initiative to come up with a plan to alter and change Obamacare. Crawford has limited or zero knowledge what this alternate proposal may be, but he assumes it will be bad for many people. After being critical, you will note Crawford proposed no specific changes, he just complained.

I would suggest all of us need to thank Rep. Price for all the time and effort he made to come up with an alternate plan for possible changes. Let’s study them and understand them before throwing them under the truck, as Crawford suggests.
