The story in Tuesday’s paper (“Garden supporters ask building of new Enota school be delayed”) did not mention the petition submitted to the board with 1,273 signatures in favor of the preservation of Smartville Garden at Enota.
The 1,273 signers requested that the bulk of the garden be preserved intact and in its present location, and that representatives of the volunteer garden committee be included in the design process in order to assure that occurs. This clearly represents broad-based community support for saving Smartville Garden and for an inclusive design process.
The challenge for the board and for the whole community is to come up with a creative solution that produces an Enota that the entire community can be proud of.
