Letter: Neither side of debate should tolerate violence from protesters

In America, anyone may peacefully assemble, protest lawfully, and make their feelings known, so long as it is done lawfully, no damage is done, and other people’s rights are respected. Unfortunately, for as long as I can remember (over 50 years), left-wing protestors rarely respect the rights and property of others.

One only needs to look back at the riots at University of California at Berkeley several weeks ago to see a perfect example of left wing “protests.” Windows were smashed, people were beaten and fires were set.

`I cannot ever remember seeing conservative protesters doing this sort of thing. There must be a difference in the maturity level between conservatives and lefties, huh?

This kind of vicious behavior cannot be tolerated by anyone, right or left. All violators must be arrested at once and sentenced to pay for all damages and given enough jail time to allow them to mull over doing it again. Personally, I would like to see these pond scum have to make small rocks out of big rocks for a couple of months.

In D.C., when the rioters smashed windows and burned cars, etc., the liberal judges let them off with no bail and let them go on their own recognizance. I am sure they all showed up in court for their hearings, right?
