Letter: GOP tax plan would harm states poor, working class
Placeholder Image

The Republicans in the Georgia General Assembly are again reminding us what their real priorities are by pushing for a restructure of the tax code next year. Their plan to shift the tax burden from income taxes to sales taxes, and to also lower the corporate tax rate will have a disproportionately negative impact on poor and working class Georgians.

This dangerous experiment was recently conducted in Kansas and the results were disastrous. Instead of jumping through hoops to give tax cuts to the wealthiest people in the state, the general assembly should be coming up with a plan to alleviate the burden of working class folks across Georgia who are struggling just to make ends meet.

We should all be alarmed about this and demand better leadership from our elected officials.
