I picked up the March 12 edition of The Times and was appalled at the vitriol spewed by editorial writer Ann McFeatters, caterwauling about our “slide into madness.” She has tunnel vision and resorts to calling people names.
She calls Donald Trump a bigot; refers to Sarah Palin’s “unfounded, outrageous charges” with not a shred of proof to back up her claim; castigated Fox News as pitting conservatives against liberals, obviously resenting open discourse refuting the left positions on most issues; and finally accused Trump of massaging “the worst instinct of the haves and the have-nots.”
She concludes by stating “Trump displays no understanding of the presidency, especially its responsibilities, let alone the nuances of foreign policy.” She should be talking about President Barack Obama, who still fails to understand foreign policy and is leaving the office with the worst mess in the Middle East ever, and 94 million Americans out of the workforce.
She refers to those “immigrants determined to succeed,” failing to note that those immigrants she refers to broke the law to get here and are thus illegal immigrants. The last I heard, we are still a nation of laws.
Finally, Cokie Roberts’ question she cites was indeed a nasty question not deserving of an answer.
